In December of 2005 I visited Francisco Villa, a small village in Calpulalpan, Tlaxcala, Mexico, where a law firm from Mexico City was delivering blankets and portable stoves. The villagers greeted our company by throwing a party with traditional food and dance. Located a few hours to the northeast of Mexico City, the village lacks running water and other basic amenities that we often take for granted. Many of the men have migrated to the United States in order to find work where they will routinely send portions of their paycheck back to their families in the village.
